چکیده

• Cochlear implantation (CI) is a treatment for patient suffering from severe to profound hearing loss. • A surgical planning software, OtoPlan, has been developed at the University of Bern for minimally invasive drilling of a cochlear access. • One of the constraints of the surgical planning during trajectory definition is to avoid the facial nerve with sufficient safety margin. • Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is used for surgical planning, however, its relatively low resolution renders the identification of the nerve difficult. • In this work, we hypothesize that supervised-learning techniques can be used to segment the facial nerve from CBCT for more precise surgical planning.

Possibility of differentiation of cochlear electrodes in radiological measurements of the intracochlear and chorda-facial angle position

Due to an increasing number of cochlear implantations, quality control has become more important. In addition to intraoperative biophysical measurements, radiological imaging is another possibility. An upcoming technique regarding this is Cone Beam CT (CBCT). Sixty-five data sets (35 Nucleus Contour Advance-Cochlear; 30 Flex Soft-MedEl) of postoperative imaging by CBCT (Accu-I-tomo F17, Morita,...

Object-Oriented Method for Automatic Extraction of Road from High Resolution Satellite Images

As the information carried in a high spatial resolution image is not represented by single pixels but by meaningful image objects, which include the association of multiple pixels and their mutual relations, the object based method has become one of the most commonly used strategies for the processing of high resolution imagery. This processing comprises two fundamental and critical steps towar...

Trabecular bone histomorphometric measurements and contrast-to-noise ratio in CBCT.

OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to evaluate how imaging parameters at clinical dental CBCT affect the accuracy in quantifying trabecular bone structures, contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) and radiation dose. METHODS 15 radius samples were examined using CBCT (Accuitomo FPD; J. Morita Mfg., Kyoto, Japan). Nine imaging protocols were used, differing in current, voltage, rotation degree, voxel ...

Super-FAN: Integrated facial landmark localization and super-resolution of real-world low resolution faces in arbitrary poses with GANs

This paper addresses 2 challenging tasks: improving the quality of low resolution facial images and accurately locating the facial landmarks on such poor resolution images. To this end, we make the following 5 contributions: (a) we propose Super-FAN: the very first end-to-end system that addresses both tasks simultaneously, i.e. both improves face resolution and detects the facial landmarks. Th...

Robust Fuzzy Content Based Regularization Technique in Super Resolution Imaging

Super-resolution (SR) aims to overcome the ill-posed conditions of image acquisition. SR facilitates scene recognition from low-resolution image(s). Generally assumes that high and low resolution images share similar intrinsic geometries. Various approaches have tried to aggregate the informative details of multiple low-resolution images into a high-resolution one. In this paper, we present a n...
